Počitelj, Blagaj and Mostar: a day in Herzegovina
Three stops along the Neretva and its side valleys, each with its own character. Počitelj is a stone village on a steep slope, Blagaj is a quiet spot where a river comes out of a cliff, and Mostar is the busy old town in between.
It is a full day with a border crossing, so the start is early and the pace is steady.

The plan for the day
Počitelj
Climb the stone lanes past the mosque to the tower at the top for the view over the river.
Blagaj
The Buna river flows out of a cave at the foot of a cliff. Next to it stands an old dervish house, and there are terraces where you can sit by the water.
Mostar
The Old Bridge, the bazaar and time for a late lunch before the drive back.
Good to know
Passports or ID cards are needed for everyone. The dervish house asks visitors to dress modestly and charges a small entrance fee. In summer the border can change the order of the stops.
